UK: New Documentary to Show Growing Islamic Supremacism in Mosques

The UK's Security Service MI-5 report recently leaked to the UK Guardian newspaper is reported to show that "there is no single pathway to violent extremism" and "there is evidence that a well-established religious identity actually protects against violent radicalisation."

However, a new documentary "Undercover Mosques: The Return" by UK's Channel 4 is to be broadcast on September 1 that shows Islamic supremacists promoting such radicalism directly in British mosques:  "Channel 4 announces return of Undercover Mosque," by Tara Conlan for the Guardian, August 22:

 

In the new documentary, a female reporter attends prayer meetings at an important British mosque which claims to be dedicated to moderation and "dialogue with other faiths".

According to Channel 4, "she secretly films sermons given to the women-only congregation in which female preachers recite extremist and intolerant beliefs".

In one scene, as hundreds of women and some children come to pray, a preacher calls for adulterers, homosexuals, women who act like men and Muslim converts to other faiths to be killed, saying: "Kill him, kill him. You have to kill him, you understand. This is Islam."

Channel 4 also said that in the same mosque, "the reporter visits the bookshop and discovers books and DVDs still on sale, promoting extremist, anti-Semitic, misogynistic and intolerant messages".

The undercover reporter also "films inside a key Saudi-funded Muslim organisation, which claims to promote tolerance and integration yet distributes literature which promotes intolerance for non-Muslims, an extreme version of sharia law and teachings which support discrimination against women".

In addition, Undercover Mosque: The Return also "investigates the role of the Saudi Arabian religious establishment in spreading a hard-line, fundamentalist Islamic ideology in the UK - the very ideology the government claims to be tackling".

On January 15, 2007, UK Channel 4's Dispatches broadcast its initial "Undercover Mosque," documentary, which was the source of protests by British Islamic organizations.  (Online video of this documentary is available online.) The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) accused the documentary of "misrepresentation," and West Midlands police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) claimed that the program was heavily edited and distorted comments.  In November 2007, however, UK's media regulator Ofcom found that such accusations of misrepresentation were false; in January 2008, UK Channel 4 and producer Hardcash sued the West Midlands police and CPS for libel.  Channel 4 and Hardcash were awarded a six-figure sum in damages in May 2008 by the West Midland police and CPS for the false accusations.

In the first "Undercover Mosque" broadcast, Dispatches captured the Islamic supremacist ideology being preached and taught in British mosques.  Per Channel 4, the broadcast included sermons in which: "preachers proclaim the supremacy of Islam, preach hatred for non-Muslims and for Muslims who do not follow their extreme beliefs - and predict a coming jihad. 'An army of Muslims will arise,' announces one preacher. Another preacher said British Muslims must 'dismantle' British democracy - they must 'live like a state within a state' until they are 'strong enough to take over.'"

After the initial "Undercover Mosque" broadcast, UK Conservative MP Lee Scott stated at the time that "I was appalled by some of the things we saw, it must be investigated, I want to know what this stuff was, and why it took a TV documentary to expose it. The mosque must know what is happening inside its building."  UK Labour MP Louise Ellma stated: "It's deeply disturbing that this preaching of hate is still going on. There should be a further investigation into the bookshop and what these people are preaching."  A year and a half later, the new Dispatches documentary will show that such activities are continuing in British mosques.

In June 2008, UK Channel 4's Dispatches broadcast another documentary "From Jail to Jihad" showing the spread of Islamic supremacism throughout British prisons, and in August 2007 another Dispatches documentary was broadcast "Britain Under Attack from Jihad."

The recent UK MI-5 leaked report ignores the obvious "pathway to violent extremism" is through Islamic supremacist ideology being taught directly in British mosques, despite the numerous reports of this by UK's Channel 4 and others in the United Kingdom.  Clearly UK's government is unwilling to face the growing Islamic supremacism in the United Kingdom.
